Dear friends and fans, after much reflection, we have now come to the conclusion that it is time to end Ranarim. It is with great sadness and not an easy decision, but rather than being unable to pay the group the time and energy we want, we choose to end with flyingcolors.
As the situation is for us now, we feel that it is impossible to continue with Ranarim. Sofia stopped even before she had her second child and both Ulrika and Johanna are now also mother of two children, and on parental leave, in whole or in part for an additional period. With only one child, it has worked fine to tour around as before because the kids and dad can join. There have been many such fun trips the last few years. But with two children, the situation is quite different.
To continue in a low intensive way and not renew our repertoire, not have time to record a new album and just take the events that work with regard to families and children is not meaningful for any ofus.
Ranarim as been such an important part in all our lives, both creative,friendly, and as a livelihood. Yes, a bit like a family, actually, because everybody's planning has largely been based on the group. But working in such a way as we did also take very much time, time thatwe now notice no longer exist.
We separated as best friends and will all continue to work as folkmusicians, both individually and together in various new forms. Who knows, this is a short period of life and maybe there will be a Ranarim-reunion sometime in the future ..?
But until then we want to thank all of you who followed us on concerts, CDs and websites over the years. Without you, there was no Ranarim and without you we would not have had all these great memories and experiences. Thankyou and thank you!

Here you get to know a bit about what everyone has in mind right now:
Ulrika is on a part time parental leave but also works with two new CDs in the studio at home in Noraström. During the fall, she records a hymn album with lyrics in ångermanländska by Nicke Sjödin. Both Niklas and Sofia are involved, and Janne Strömstedt on pump organ, Martin von Schmalensee on guitars, Gustav Hylén on trumpet and Göran Månsson on flutes.
Spring will be devoted to a solo album with both traditional songs from Ångermanland and her own material, a heart-project that now is the time to realize!
Niklas has this year played with the Nyckelharporchestra and the project "Reel around the North Sea", a meeting between musicians and dancers from all over the North Sea region. He also teaches in arranging music at the Eric Sahlström Institute since twelve years.
Together with guitarist Ian Carr, he is working on the sequel to their debut album "Step On It," which they plan to record next spring. Besides this is Niklas also going to start up his very own solo project.
Johanna is on maternity leave at present. She will be working part time as a music consultant on the Bilda of Hälsingland and continue to freelance as a teacher and singer, among others in the group Kapten Bölja together with Ola Hertzberg and Tomas Lindberg.
Daniel will continue to combine the business as a freelance musician with the teaching of guitar playing. Together with Emma Ahlberg he records a CD with both their own songs and songs from Medelpad. Daniel also plays in Göran Månsson Band together with Petter.
Petter released this year his solo album "Rhythm of Sweden Part1" and is now working with "Rhythm of Sweden Part2" along with some of Sweden's greatest fiddlers. Meanwhile, Petter's plays in the bands [ni: d], BLM, Horn Please, Free Peaces, Göran Månsson Band, Unni Boksasp Ensemble and others.
Petters' own record label Playing With Music will release album number five and six in 2011 and also give out the two bonus tracks that Ranarim give to their fans as a parting gift.
