Ulrika BodénUlrika Bodén is one of the leading folk singers in Sweden today. She was born in 1974 and grew up on a goat farm in Helgum in the county of Ångermanland. During several years, Ulrika has worked with finding an formerly unknown folk song repertoire from her home county where she now lives. Still she frequently tours the world both with Ranarim and as a solo artist.
Micke Forsberg/The folk and World Magazine Lira wrote this about Ulrika: "There is a few things that touches you directly, that goes straight into your heart. One of theese is Ulrika Bodéns voice." Ulrika is one of the original members of Ranarim. ![]() Johanna Bölja Hertzberg
Johanna Bölja Hertzberg started to sing folkmusic at the age of nine. She has since been, singing, playing and dancing. As as teenager she joined the folkmusic band Hulling. Finally this lead to a degree in folkmusic at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, where she studied folk singing 2000-2005.
Johanna has been working as a musician at the theatre Folkteatern Gävleborg and worked as a freelance musician and teacher in many diffrent projects. Apart from Ranarim Johanna sings in the bands Kapten Bölja and Ditt Ditt Darium, both with CD´s coming out 2007. In 2005 she got nominated for the Swedish Grammy Award for the album Kärleksbrev och ryska satelliter with the folk singers Ståbi, Hallberg and Härdelin. Niklas RoswallNiklas Roswal is born in Norra Kverrestad in the county Skåne. He began to play violin but continued with the traditional Swedish instrument nyckelharpa (keyed fiddle). Niklas earned the honorful title Riksspelman in 1992 and won the international nyckelharpa championship in 1996. After a degree in folkmusic at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm Niklas is working as a fulltime musician. Apart from Ranarim is Niklas member of the band Nyckelharpsorkestern and plays with guitarist Ian Carr and the saxophone player Jens Comén. A great part of the original compositions in Ranarim is by Niklas hand. Niklas is one of the original members of the band. Daniel EkDaniel Ek was born and raised in Vuollerim in the county of Lappland. Already at eight years of age he started playing the guitar. Later Daniel achieved a degree in classical guitar playing at the music collage of Piteå after six years of studies. Apart from his classical playing Daniel has played renaissance lute as well as electric guitar. He also plays the traditional Swedish bagpipe.
Daniel works as guitar teacher and musician. Apart from Ranarim he is a member of Göran Månsson Band and Ahlberg/Ek. ![]() Petter Berndalen grew up in Bollnäs in the county of Hälsingland. Today he lives in Stockholm and works fulltime as a musician. During many years Petter has created a own way of playing Swedish folkmusic on percussion. Petter has taken percussion playing to a new formerly unknown level. 2008 Petter got the National Folkmusic Price from the Royal Music Academy and achieved a master degree in folkmusic the same year. Apart from Ranarim Petter is playing in several bands and projects and also perform as a solo artist both in Sweden and abroad. |
